Tent Camping – A Simple Way To Get Away

It may not be for everyone but I absolutely love tent camping. I am growing to love it more and more because it provides a way to quickly disconnect from the totally plugged in world that we live in. It pairs nicely with simplicity and minimalism and the further into simplicity I journey, the more I find myself in the woods with a tent surrounded by trees. It compliments minimalism nicely. Here are 5 ways tent camping is a simple way to get away.

Out of Your Comfort Zone

1. Get out of your comfort zone. Tent camping easily removes you from your comfort zone. Life can get stagnant and you can get too use to the same routine. When you are out in nature setting up camp and building a campfire you are challenging yourself in different ways than you normally would.

A COMFORT ZONE IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE BUT NOTHING EVER GROWS THERE

Keep It Simple

2. There is a full spectrum of tent camping you can do. From primitive camping in the backwoods to campground resorts that have electric, water and shower houses with bathrooms. Regardless of where you are on that spectrum the most important thing is to keep your supplies lean so you can pack up and get on the road quickly as well as set up & pack away your campsite quickly. The last impromptu camp out my husband and I did consisted of a 2 man tent, a sleeping bag each, backpack each with a change of clothes and pair of extra socks & full water bottles, a few camp necessities like a lighter, a bundle of wood and 2 camp chairs.

No Excuses

3. I never use to be spontaneous because admittedly I made it too difficult and cumbersome to just hit the road by always wanting to bring too much stuff. Now that I practice a more simplified lifestyle I am able to grab the basic camp necessities that are all stored together in the garage and go. I have no excuse not to grab our gear and hit the road.

Scout Ahead of Time

4. Spend some time researching your local area for tent camping options that are within a 1-3 hour drive. Get to know which ones take reservations and which ones allow walk ups. If you are lucky there are places to let you go into the backwoods and set up but you normally need to buy a permit. If you know all your camping options in advance you can go with little to no notice. *If you are going away farther and longer you may need more supplies but in general, keeping it lean works for most tent camping scenarios.

Budget Friendly

5. Tent camping is very budget friendly. It can range from $2-$45 US dollars depending on the type of camping and region you are camping. A backwoods permit can cost only $2-$3. Some tent camping sites at campgrounds will range between $20-$45. Another option is if you know anyone that has property that allows camping and don’t charge anything. A price for every budget.

I always feel centered and reconnected with myself after a camp out in nature. Fresh air, beautiful scenery, a good hike and a cozy campfire. It’s so nice to have a simple way to getaway! Grab your tent. Lets Go!

Enjoy the journey and always be true to yourself!
